Economic Development Council
“It’s no secret that our national economy is struggling to create and maintain jobs, and we in Mississippi and Alcorn County are not immune. In times like these it is critical that our business leaders through The Alliance, our local elected officials, and our state are working tirelessly together with open minds and new ideas toward creating and maintaining jobs. Because this global economy is highly competitive and always changing, Corinth and Alcorn County must be also in order to succeed! We must use all avenues possible to make our community more attractive for economic growth and development of both new and existing industries. I look forward to working with our local and state officials towards those ends on the EDC board in the coming year.”
The Economic Development Council works to attract new businesses and industries to the community while also working with existing industries to promote job creation and retention and to spur additional investment.
Members of the Council meet monthly (or more often if needed) to assess ongoing activities, discuss marketing strategies, and oversee the Council’s financial operations.
An important Council service is ensuring that suitable properties are readily available to industries seeking to build new facilities or expand existing operations. An Industrial Land Fund Drive is conducted annually to generate resources for upgrading properties held by The Alliance and for purchasing additional properties so that sites are always available for sale or lease.
